Passing Patterns for Improvement in
Combination Play and Movement Off the Ball

Basic Information and Overview
-This is an overview of the basic concepts of the "thru-pass" and movement needed to find passing lanes. The techniques of the "layoff", the "flick" and the "turn" are discussed. These techniques will be further developed in the "Intro to 4-Player Passing" and then put into practice in the "4-Player Passing Variations" drill.
Key Points:

1. Don't forget the "technical" groundwork that has to be established to effectively perform the layoffs, flicks, wall passes and turns. You may need to review the proper mechanics involved in "one-touch" passing and "flick" passes, focusing on balance, follow-thru and staying over the ball. Furthermore, when receiving passes, active feet and "squaring to the ball should be rehearsed and emphasized.
