Warm-ups
Drill Brief Description
Field Skills -Foot/Thigh/Chest/Head Controls-Juggling skills-Volleys
-2 and 1 touch passing
Shadow Footwork -Pairs of Gks without balls, face each other. Mirror image movements-leaps-rolls
Bounce & Catch -Simple bounce-under leg-off fist-high with leap-with partners-interference
Ball Rolling -Rolling 8's-air 8's-rolls up/back-air up/back-crossed catches-crunch 8's
Crunches and Catches -Catch/flop back/crunch and throw. Also with chest control and volley.
Jog & Catch -Pairs jog line-touch passing-scoops-banks-high W's-square to ball-shuffling
Jog & Smother -pairs jog line-back Gk rolls ball past Gk1 for smother save.
"Iron Cross" -crunch position-arms to side-jumps over arms and legs.
"Mighty Mouth" -yelling contest
Kicks & Throws -long kicks and throws.
Weave Rolling -3 players do the "weave" as they do little flop dives past each other towards the center.

Hands Drills (almost a practice in itself)
Drill Brief Description  * Hands in front! - Attack the ball! *
Kneeling Pairs -Pairs kneel-2 and 1 handers-volleyball-parries-2 and 1handed punches.
Flopping Pairs -Pairs kneel or stand-flops and dives to side with immed. throwback. Flop game.
Standing Pairs -Standing pairs all saves from throws and volleys-follow ball with interference. High balls with interference. Reaction catches to back.
Moving Pairs -Pairs move toss and save-sprints-rolls-turned away for reaction save.
Sitting Pairs -Pairs sit throw/crunch or throw/flop with immed. throwbacks from ground.
Two Servers -Gk shuffles btwn. posts for served save at each end. All saves.
Multi-volleys -Gk1 side shuffles on goal line serving balls to Ch for volley shots. Non-stop. Use Gk2 and 2 balls if available.
Circle Catches -Circle of players, Gk in center saves from volley&throws randomly from circle.
Crosses Catch
or Parry
-Gk in goal yelling&catching&punching crosses-with interference-duel with another Gk Add other players, obstacles, soccer bags, cones etc.

Footwork and Movement
Drill Brief Description  * Balance - Stay Square to the ball -
"Ready/Set/Save*
Side Shuffling -1or2 Gk's shuffle btwn. posts-obstacles-then 1&2 saves-high & low- add rolls/hops
Minefield -10 scattered balls-save on each-interference-bounce for Gk2 catch. Game with shots on goal or distrib. to target after save.
Line of balls -Balls out towards 18yds.Save then retreat to line.Game with distribution to target.
Zig-zags -ZigZag stakes with save at end-add hurdle-2nd save-Game with distrib.target.
Jump- crawl -1or2 hurdles,vary height-2foot jumps in&out with save-add crawl-more hurdles etc. Try the same with players, some bent over some with legs wide. Have Gk1 serve the ball out to the Ch who 1st times it for initial save, then Gk1 recovers for second save at far post.
3 Goal
Charlie
-Set up 2 extra "stake" goals, number from 1 to 3. Call number and Gk shuffles to save shot from Ch. Try using math problems to determine which goal.

Flopping, Smothering & Diving
Drill Brief Description
Shadow Diving -Imaginary saves from coaches pointing-flops/side dives/hover dives etc.
Punch&Parry -2Gk's flopping from kneel or stand.Add coach to serve to Gk1 who parries to Gk2 at side. Start sitting then squatting then standing. Add 2 balls. Teach use of both hands. Game with goal behind Gk2.
Sprint&Dive -Ball out from goal line.Gk sprints for save-recovers for 2nd save at far post.All saves. First from stationary ball-add more difficulty later.
Pick- pocket -Field players with balls in box doing touches-Gk steals from plyers with smother. Game with target distrib. or shot on goal. Increase difficulty.
4-Ball Snatch -4balls on 6yd.-Gk races player to ball.Gk on goal-player out 12yds. 3 variations.

  Breakaways  
Drill Brief Description
Getting Set -pairs of discs converge out from goal.Gorilla set at each station.Add coach with foot motion or shout,and finally shots.
B-pickpocket -Coaches with clumsey dribble for Gk to steal. Later add difficulty and defender.
Break Race -2players race towards goal chasing ball served by coach.. One defends. Gk covers for save.

  Reflex Drills  
Drill Brief Description
-*Concentrate on proper hands and shape. All missed saves must be smothered or faced like game conditions. Emphasize gorilla set position before each shot.*
Nutmeg Turns -Gk faces Gk2 for nutmeg pass-whirls to save 1st timer from coach. Also with solo Gk who faces goal and serves back between legs, or sits and tosses above head to PK spot for shot.

Progression
-First -Gk1 kneeling in half goal-Gk2 passes to coach for 1st time shot.
-Second-same set up but Gk1 stands-uses whole goal-variety of shots.
-Third-same set up but Gk1 must touch post and then react to save.
-Fourth-Gk touches post-coach yells "Go"-serves stretch save.
-Fifth-Gk saves as above-then recovers touches far post-then second save.
-Sixth-Gk lays on ground at post-coach yells "Go"-serves ball for save.
-Seventh-Gk stands in center-coach serves high corner shots for leaps.
Triangles -Triangle or square goal-Gk moves from goal to goal for saves off players shots and 1timers. Keep score.
First-Timers -2 or more goals facing center-coach 1st times shots to each Gk.
Back-Stabbing -Gk facing away in goal-team mates/coach call out then fire shot for whirl and save.
Parry&Save -Gk sits/kneels facing away in goal-then slaps/parries ball back over head to coach for 1st timer and save.
Double-Drop -Gk kneels/squats/stands facing coach who drops L or R ball for reaction flop save. Start with catch, then go to flops then with balls on ground fake kick to ball for block attempt by Gk, immed. recovery.
Crossfire -Set up stake goal-Gk saves from one direction and whirls to save from the other.

Salmon Leaps - Punches & Parries
Drill Brief Description
Parry-101 -Gk1 tosses and parries ball to Gk2 for save-add parry over goal to Gk2-finally coach serves balls to Gk1 for parry over goal to Gk2 who can save or punch back.
Punch-101 -As above but with punches. Punch back & save, and then back and forth, incease separation, then go over the goal. Play punch volleyball.
Leaping-Punch & Parry -3 players, coach serves to Gk1 who parries/punches to Gk2 off to side. Then add goals and play game. Start with players sitting, then squatting, then standing. Add a second ball. Use Gk3 if available.
Chip-Recovery -Gk1 darts to coach at PK spot, touches ball, immed. backpedals, coach serves chip for high save. Eventually move farther out and suprise chip to either side.

Kicking and Throwing
Drill Description  
Long Kicks -Long kicks with target goals. Gk2 can body save or hand save before return. Have game with 1 point on ground, 3 points for kick in air thru goals.
Long Throws -Same as above but Gk's throw the ball back and forth with javelin throws or bowling rolls.
Channel-Kicking
&Back Pass
-Make 2 long channels for Gk1 & Gk2 to kick down, shifting back and forth. Add coach in middle to provide short back pass for 1 timers etc.
Shorts&Long -3 short passes followed by long strike.One of the short passers makes run to begin sequence with receiver of long kick.
Small Sided
GK-Ball
-Gk ball with variations, allow bounces,score with throws, rolls, drop volleys, PK's, headers, etc.
